Fed: New chief censor appointed
Melbourne International Film Festival chairman DESMOND CLARK has been appointed new
chief censor, following the death of KATHRYN PATERSON.
MR CLARK, who's also Australian Film Commission deputy chairman, takes over as director
of the Office of Film and Literature Classification next Monday.
He will oversee classification of publications, films, videos and computer games, in
a four-year term of office.
MRS PATERSON died of cancer last September at the age of 36.
She had been chief censor for eight months, New Zealand's chief censor for five years,
and had held various censorship positions in Australia.
